The world is in chaos – economies are on lockdown, businesses are on lockdown which encompasses manufacturing and production companies, educational institutions, pleasure parks, vacation sites like Disneyland, major airline companies have also shut down passenger travels around major countries today excluding logistical movement of healthcare PPE’s like nose mask, hand gloves, wears, a supply of medical aids and food provisions. What about humans? Every continent has a larger percentage of countries that are on lockdown with regards to the movement of humans. Why are these actions taking place? It is because of the outbreak of the deadly virus called Coronavirus. This is no longer a national crisis, it is now a global crisis – the world is affected generally. What does it mean for investments, businesses, and economies? Doom or hope?

For the record, this isn’t the first time that pandemic has struck the earth’s surface. The world has faced several pandemics, and have survived it. In 1918 the world was in the middle of a raging World War. Regardless of the war, it got hit by influenza caused by an H1N1 virus also known as the Spanish Flu with genes of avian origin. Lasting from 1918-1919, the virus had a massive effect worldwide. It infected over 500 million people which was one-third of the world’s population and killed an estimated number of 50 million people worldwide. In February 1957, the world saw the emergence of influenza (H2N2) virus that emerged in East Asia, triggering a global pandemic that took the lives of over 1.1 million persons. In 2009, the H1N1 flu emerged in Mexico, infecting 700 million worldwide and taking the lives of over 575,000. Other virus infections existed before COVID-19 such as SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome), MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome), and Ebola just to name a few, and currently the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak that has claimed over 220,000 lives worldwide.

However this outbreak has hindered the physical one-on-one contact between business owners and their customers, thereby causing a bridge in communication. In the light of activities, the outbreak of coronavirus paved the way for think tanks to develop technological tools and gadgets for the benefit of business owners such as adavnaced usage of drones and robots. Meanwhile the world have the internet and it is accessible from the touch of a button from your smartphone. What does this mean to businesses? During this outbreak of COVID-19, half of the world are indoors and the internet offers various ways to reach customers on the go.

There are the regular billboard ads, pamphlets, and social meadia ads on the platforms like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram but other methods exist that are infused in video forms – simply called video ads that are made in short video clips of around 30 seconds to one minute.

These videos come in different types in order to reach the right audience and they are as follows:
1. In-stream Video Ads: It has Pre-roll, Mid-roll, and Post-roll.
2. Outstream Video Ads: It has In-Page, In-Banner, In-Text.
3. Non-Linear Video Ads: It has Overlay ads and Non-Overlay ads.
4. Interactive video ads
5. In-Game video ads

Why are video advertisements very effective to use as a tool to reach the heart of a customer?
Video is a versatile and engaging content format that not only gives us a real-life picture of what is going on; it’s also easy to share across multiple platforms. Consumers like it because it’s easy to digest, entertaining and engaging, and marketers like it because it can give a potentially huge return on investment (ROI) through many channels. When you grab the opportunity of advertising during a global crisis like this one the world is facing, you have a large open window of opportunity to showcase your products to over four billion humans that are on lockdown around the world. Why? Video is very accessible to anyone with internet access. While there is certainly a trend towards higher quality video on a professional level. Consumers invest time and sense while watching a video of their preferred product. They can make informed decisions about the products based on the information provided in the video. Human psychology plays an important role in advertisements. It can increase the business volume by more than 50%. Video advertising provides a competitive edge to you over your existing market competitors. People tend to watch video advertisements on mobile devices rather than computers. The number of such people is rising continuously throughout the world. A majority of B2B (Business to Business) customers tend to purchase a product after watching a short video about it. Human psychology says consumers have a short span of attention.

It is important to produce a video within a 30 second time limit. The first five seconds of the video should be engaging enough to captivate the audience and this is where the different video ads mentioned in this article come into play. These are the reasons why mobile video advertisements are considered as the convenient option and the making of these videos are very affordable.
However, effective online communication tools such as Skype have fused the gap regarding social distancing between the business owner and the customer, making it possible for effective B2C (Business to Customer) to take place. By using such online tool for video calls, both parties have the opportunity of seeing each other, sharing ideas on what they need during the ongoing discussion, thereby building mutual trust and understanding too. The customer gets the first hand knowledge on what his/her video would look like at the end of it being created, and the processes that are involved in ensuring the video reaches the right audience. With such an imaginary view in mind, the customer is fully involved in the process and understands convincingly why video advertisements should be used.

In summary, why should you advertise during a global crisis?

You have the best opportunity of showcasing your business products to a large worldwide audience that are home without any hassle via the internet, and statistics have proven that over 7 billion users of mobile phones have access to internet. If your business products can get to 1% of this audience through advertising campaigns such as video advertisements during this global lockdown, you have a very good conversion ratio.

It is necessary to maintain social distancing during this outbreak because of our personal safety but it should not hinder you from contacting a video production agency to make you a business video for advertisement. The technology in our world today have made everything easy at your reach. By making use of video call app like Skype to discuss with the agency, you sit at the comfort of your home at your own convenience and discuss your needs and want.
